GEORGES’ MILLS
The first film production of the Equity Motion Picture Company, was presented Monday night at the Casino, to a large audience of Billy B. Van’s personal friends and visitors to Van Harbor.
The subject ”Some Hero,” is an original one and concerns the escapades of one Ezra Inbad, in search of heroic adventure. It is very cleverly worked out as a photo-comedy, presenting Mr. Van in the chief role, and the Beaumont sisters, Mrs. Van, and Miss Nellie Beaumont-in equally important parts.
The comedy is lively, and Billy Van in films promises to be as unctuous, and laugh provoking as he is in the spoken comedy. Mr. Van is directing, staging and producing, as well as supplying the motif for the scenarios that are to be filmed this season. Many Newporters had the opportunity of seeing, and participating in one of the plays, ”The Janitor’s Birthday,” which had its local in the vicinity and it is the intention of Mr. Van as soon as the film is ready for production to give a private view at the Casino for the special benefit of all Newporters who care to go to Van Harbor to see it.
William Norris, the comedian, has gone to New York.
George, Hudson, treasurer of the Equity Motion Picture Co., is a visitor to the studio at Van Harbor.
Mrs. George Kleine, wife of the prominent Moving Picture Spectacle producer, paid a hurried visit to the Van studio last week. She expressed surprise that such headway had been made in such a short space of time.
